DETECT FIRE AT ITS SOURCEProtecting Lives Safeguarding Property
Camera-based fire detection usually referred to as FireVU or video smoke and flame detection is now firmly established worldwide as making a major contribution towards improved fire safety. It is used extensively in areas that traditionally have been the most challenging for fire safety professionals (such as lofty voluminous areas) to provide the earliest possible detection of smoke.
FireVU ensures fast detection of smoke at its source, with the incident visible on a monitor, enabling appropriate action to be taken in the shortest possible time. The technology, which has been developed and proven over many years, utilises standard CCTV cameras (often existing CCTV security installations) and is an extremely cost-effective solution. Now, with the introduction of the latest advance in FireVU technology, installations can be remotely monitored for a potential fire to provide 24-hour-a-day fast response, as well as offering remote testing and diagnosis of the installation, and easier integration with security and facilities management systems.
How FireVU Works The uniqueness of FireVU is its intelligence - the ability to accurately detect smoke and flame patterns and differentiate between them and other movement's patterns. It does this by using computer analysis of video images provided by standard CCTV cameras. Note: Not all camera types are compatible. The system rapidly detects smoke by seeking small areas of change within an image. These are passed through a series of filters that seek the particular characteristics that are known to be associated with smoke behaviour. FireVU can simultaneously process video information from a number of CCTV cameras. Its real-time digitising of all the images ensures that no information is lost; all alarm condition images are logged, time and date-stamped, and stored in the systems memory.
Remote Monitoring FireVU utilises the latest secure TCP/IP communications technology, enabling the alarm, including the video images to be distributed to an unlimited nember of remote devices, including Remote Video receiving Centres (RVRC) anywhere in the world. The Overwhelming Case For FireVU
Applications Today, FireVU installations are safeguarding on and offshore oil and gas installations, civil and military aircraft hangers, power stations, turbine halls, rain facilities and road tunnels, and buildings that have atria or other areas that are otherwise difficult or impossible to protect.
