Water, Foam and Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers
Water, the most commonly used extinguishant for class A fires involving carbonaceous materials such as wood, paper and textiles, water extinguishers cool the fire, removing the heat needed to sustain burning. Foam fire extinguishers with AFF additive, have the effect of improving a water based extinguisher, enabling it to fight class A and B fires. Wet chemical extinguishers contains special potassium acetate based agent for use on fires involving cooking oils or fats.
